Wise Guys

Last night I attended a small gathering of believers at Wise Guys on the U of M campus. This service occurs monthly and is sponsored by the Navigators. I was very uplifted, and felt like a welcomed part of their community (even though it was my first time there). The General Confession prodded me to leave nothing undone....
"Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved You with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbor as ourselves, we are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of Your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in Your will, and walk in Your ways, to the glory of Your name. Amen"

Beautiful

I really want this dress from Anthropology, but am not going to shell out $188 USD for it. I'll just have to dream about owning it.

Eureka, I've Found It

This past week I've been reading a book entitled "The Way They Learn- How To Discover and Teach to Your Child's Strengths" Well don't have kids, but this book taught me a lot about myself. It helped me discover some of my learning styles, as well as my strengths and weaknesses. As some of you know I found a good quote while reading the book however, when I went back to underline it...it was gone! I don't mean it was not in the book anymore, but I could not find it. Well tonight I finished reading the book, and the quote magically appeared...on the last page. It was worth the wait.
"We have not succeeded in solving all your problems. The answers we have found only serve to raise a whole new set of questions. In some ways, we feel we are as confused as ever, but we feel we are confused on a higher level, and about more important things." Author unknown.

Blue Like Jazz / Live

Thanks Gillian for introducing me to Jason Hildebrand. I'm really looking forward to attending his live performance of Blue Like Jazz /Live in March (3-5, maybe I'll go twice). I'm also thinking of making it a Seminary event, just because something like this does not come along everday.

Feel The Burn?

I feel old. It's not becaue I've been finding grey hairs, or spotting wrinkles in the mirror. It's because I feel ache-y all over. They say old people creak and snap like an old wood floor in the winter...and that's exactly what I feel like today. I've been doing this Minna Emergency Workout for the past few days. I don't' know what my emergency is...I guess I don't really have one, except that I want to feel better about myself, and I also want to fit back into a fantastic pair of denim trouser pants...that used to fit.
Even though it will make you feel ache-y, and perhaps old. I would recommend trying this DVD if you ever have a chance. Some of my BBC friends may remember Jo and I or Jo and Michele doing it in the girls lounge. It was quite popular. I don't think its popularity came solely because of the great workout it provided. I think the fact it included party and salsa dancing was appealing to us Wesleyan students....it seemed sneaky and yet almost brazen to do this on holy Wesleyan, non dancing property. And we did, and we loved it. That was so long ago...oh dear I'm starting to feel old again.

Thoughts on love...

There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you can find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous .
